My friend Amy has been helping me with my personal portrait project to photograph radio DJs in their own environment, and perhaps get a little snapshot into their lives to see the person behind the voice we hear on the radio. Amy used to work at the bear and live885, and looking to return to the airwaves. Currently, she is starting her own station. I first approached Amy for this project because we were already friends and since then she has been helping me with participants. As for her, we finally hooked up for a shoot at the Ottawa Mission where she volunteers. I have never been inside this place and to be honest it is extremely well organized and clean. The food and services they pump out also seem high quality. I didn't feel like bring my full camera gear as I was going in blind and had no idea what to expect. So I didn't bring anything but my used Fuji X100 and treated the shoot like I was some journalist documenting her day (which I was). Anyhow, thanks Amy for participating despite not looking the most flattering with a hair net and all, and also the mission for letting me tag along. I think I will volunteer here in the future.
