Lauren was my second PHD student that won some scholarship or award this year. We went through a lot of different look but we finally decided on this one for her award headshot. The powerful, successful look.
People are subjective in their taste for headshots or portraits; we have to face that fact. It is not better or worst, but just a matter of personal preference. This is why it is very important to exhibit work you want to do and images you want people to contact you to do. Sure you can do other stuff and are probably very good at it, but you don't like doing it so what is the point. Of course even when people come to you, they are just in the same ball park. Although I like all these images here, there are two I personally like more. But I get it, I probably won't want to use an unfriendly artsy photo for my business portrait either. So I guess this is a bad example, but now that I have written all this, I don't feel like deleting it all and starting from scratch as I am drawing a blank. My wife is starring and waiting for me to start binge watching Mr. Robot again, cause I forgot what happened in the story line to continue to season 2.
I am terrible at social media, blogging, posting, or anything I am suppose to do to draw attention to myself. To be honest I hate all all of it. It is a shame it is absolutely necessary to do social media, except a few who are way more talented than I will ever dream of being. For now I will shamefully keep posting. It doesn't help I suck at writing in general or just have nothing to write about. In fact, I have said nothing about this headshot or how I really like the look of it and how I need make a nice image like this for myself. Maybe I need some "fluff" generator, there must be an app for that right?
This dude with this sick two-colour beard showed up for softball one day. My first reaction was a want to photograph him. Second sentence to this man was, "hey can I take you portrait?" Never could I ask a chick with a sick beard the same question that fast.
Unfortunately he has recently cut his hair. Therefore, his wresting career I made for him will have to wait till it grows back.
Here are a few looks I did for Victoria recently in the studio. When you are super smart like her, people ask for your headshot so they can publish things you write about. Me, I can barely write three sentences correctly to make a paragraph, and even then it takes me 45 minutes. How then am I suppose to write more "engaging" content to get more "likes" the way those email marketers in my junk inbox suggest? I guess, I will stick with what I am good at; taking pictures. Is that how you use a semicolon? I learned how about 20 times in the past two years but forget within 48 hours and revert back to my grade 6 muddy explanation.
