A lot of respect for baby or children photographers! I am no good at this! The first time I photographed my nephew, I wasn't too happy with them as they just looked like snapshots I did of the baby (3 weeks old). I had no props and really no clue what I was doing. This time around (~3 months), I thought I will just shoot a portrait of Aiden regular style in a studio, but not use any cutesy baby props as my sister already had that covered with another photographer. Mission failed! Mission failed cause I realized you can't photograph somebody who cannot hold up their own head (hence green-head-holding-up chair). I realized, there is a sleeping schedule I have to follow, otherwise one cranky-crying baby. I realized, babies need lots of heat and don't respond to any poking, prodding or voice commands. Anyhow, needless to say the shoot went not as planned, but that's kinda the fun part sometimes isn't it. Usually, 95 percent of my shoots do not go as planned, but don't tell my clients that...oops. I was lucky this time around, as my sister, brother-in-law and my intern Jocelyn were all there to help me out. Although it didn't go as planned, I still got a few nice pics. Personally, I like crying baby photos, but I am not sure if my sister will...
It was either heavy crying or heavy sleeping. No medium.
Below is a great photograph of my brother in law wrecking the photo...maybe the best picture of the set?
